Business Litigation

  • Obtained $2MM+ judgment plus attorney’s fees for real estate developer after three-week trial against City in 2017 for tortious interference and infringing on vested rights.

  • Defended international company against alleged multimillion dollar holdback claims arising from corporate acquisition. Successfully mediated after completing key depositions and discovery motion.

  • Prosecuted multimillion dollar breach of fiduciary duty and contract claims by limited partner against general partner that allegedly defrauded her out of interest in commercial property. Resolved favorably after deposing general partner, obtaining order piercing attorney-client privilege and filing summary judgment motion.

  • Defended law firm against multimillion dollar malpractice and breach of fiduciary duty counterclaims alleged by former litigation client. Obtained summary judgment after close of discovery, affirmed on appeal.

  • Business-Related Personal Injury –Defended Fortune 500 Companies against worksite, aviation and vehicle-related personal injury claims.

  • Defended engineering company in alleged $150 million professional negligence litigation arising from alleged failed Port of Anchorage expansion project.

  • Prosecuted and defended securities law claims, including defense of large law firm in securities litigation arising from issuance of tax-exempt bonds.

  • Prosecuted and defended private company disputes, including minority owner claims in connection with dissolution of limited liability company.


Insurance Recovery Litigation

Paul Raskin has helped clients to secure millions of dollars in insurance coverage in cases ranging from large corporations asserting claims for defense costs, property damage, and environmental remediation to individuals seeking benefits.  Raskin has also had the experience of representing insurance companies and was appellate counsel in Supreme Court of Washington proceedings relating to Washington’s Insurance Fair Conduct Act.  He has experience with insurance claims under a wide variety of policies, including comprehensive general liability, property, all risks, professional liability, cargo, homeowners, disability, and other coverages, and has published articles on insurance law.  He has litigated claims for Insurance Coverage, Insurer Bad Faith, violation of the Insurance Fair Conduct Act, and violation of the Consumer Protection Act. Insurance Litigation Case highlights (including Paul’s work prior to forming Raskin Litigation):

  • Prosecuted multimillion dollar claims against London insurers for coverage of wind turbines damaged in hurricane. Obtained confidential settlement at London mediation after deposing insurer representative and other key discovery.

  • Prosecuted claims for theft and embezzlement coverage under all-risks property policy.

  • Prosecuted coverage claims for defense costs incurred defending nationwide claims against mobile carrier.

  • Prosecuted high value homeowner’s insurance claims.
